It occurred to me today that my eating schedule is much like a hobbits. The thought banged around my head for a while until I got out my trusty copy of The Lord of the Rings. Here is their eating schedule, next to the meals I enjoyed today to meet my hobbit quota.
Breakfast: Tea with honey, and old-fashioned oatmeal stirred with peanut butter, honey and topped with soymilk.
Second Breakfast: Banana
Elevensies: Honey Crisp (that's a variety) apple slices that had been sprinkled with lemon juice, cinnamon breakfast claw, scratch labs drink mix and GU chomps unknown flavor (eaten while on the bike)
Luncheon: Leftover vegetarian bean enchiladas, multiple handfuls of my favorite potato chips and a couple of tall glasses of Tejava (the best bottled tea)
Afternoon Tea: Pasta salad with tomato, cilantro, artichoke hearts and green onions, two spinach chickpea patties, couple squares of dark chocolate and more Tejava
Dinner: More pasta salad and a panko breaded tilapia fillet. Sorry die heard veggies, I've been leaning to the dark side: pesketarian
Supper: Hot bourbon drink: Bulleit Bourbon, lemon juice and honey; dark caramel and balsamic gelato.
As you can see I have a long way to go. Hobbits enjoy 6-7 full meals everyday and some of mine were rather light. In addition, I burned about 1,600 calories on my ride and am still in deficit. But I am going to keep at it!! Especially since it was suggested today that I "eat a ton of food" in order speed up on the descents. hmmmm...
